THE PROGRAM

The RESPONSIBLE NETISM movement, in conjunction with the Thane and Mumbai Cyber cells, plans to sensitize children, youth and parents within the sphere of educational institutions since academia plays a crucial role in impacting and developing children and youth. We typically conduct 'One-time One-hour' child-friendly interactive sessions titled "BEING RESPONSIBLE NETIZENS" for students of STD V and above to create commensurate awareness about cyber safety and responsible online behaviour. We also seek their online support to build collective action thereby lending crucial momentum to our recurrent appeals to the Central Government to give topmost priority to Cyber Safety policy and implementation. After our focused programs for educational institutions, we will gradually move on to the stakeholders of corporate houses and even residential complexes.

Since July, we have successfully sensitized 1Lac children, youth and parents within educational institutions of Thane and Mumbai thereby winning a vast army of committed virtual supporters on our pledge. Responses from parents, teachers Principals have been overwhelming since they have been struggling to deal with issues related to impacts of technology among children and youth. We have conducted an extensive study targeting 700 children within Mumbai and Thane under the able guidance of Dr. Anuradha Sovani and also presented a paper on the growing aggression and violence among children as a direct consequence of online gaming and gadget addiction. Among other accomplishments, the RESPONSIBLE NETISM movement has provided a credible enabling platform for people to share their thoughts and help create a sense of understanding which is critical to any constructive action to tackle the deep-rooted and grave issue of global significance.
